Finding an Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palette for less than $30 is an amazing deal! UD is known for their amazing quality eyeshadows, so grab this smokey version before it goes. I also found this Deborah Lippmann nail polish set, which also has amazing quality products and they are cruelty-free. #FunFact

Now, can we talk about this KitchenAid at almost half the original price?!

Who has enough accessories? I know I don't! Specially for sunglasses with marble print or the ever so chic tassel earrings. I really hope they never go out of style!

Mother's Day Gift Guide

Shopping, Lifestyle, Fashion, BeautyMaría Elena RodríguezComment

First, I have to say THANK YOU to all of you who took the time to personally write me after last week's extremely emotional post. Sharing that post was definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done, so your support meant everything to me and I'm so glad to know I helped you somehow. That's why I thought this week was time for a much lighter post and decided to share with you guys a cool gift guide for all of the moms in your life.

But before I begin I have to sat that the girls from Bien Cool were kind enough to send me some of their super funny postcards. If you're looking to make even the most serious person smile, go with one of these. My mom already knows I will be giving her this one, because it's legit and I just love that it has the word "vagina" in it! I highly recommend usingPostales Bien Cool this Mother's Day. Specially if you have a super conservative mom like I do. lol (Sorry, not sorry, Mami)

Here are the perfect gifts depending on what type of mom you're buying for. Hope it helps!

For the Beauty Junkie

This mom probably never leaves the house without makeup, a good perfume and is crazy about makeup. So make sure you get her some upgraded basics. Here are some recommendations:

  • A pretty makeup bag - Depending on your budget, you could get her a beautiful affordable makeup bag like this one or you could splurge and find her a designer makeup bag like this Gucci Blossoms one.
  • Fancy Perfume - Don't get her a basic perfume. Ask a Sephora sales person to help you find an exotic scent based on your mom's personality. I would suggest anything by Maison Margiela, Jo Malone, Atelier Cologne or my personal favorites, Elizabeth and James
  • Nail Polish Set - Anything a little bit fancier than your regular OPI and Essie will be perfect. I would suggest Deborah Lippmann or Butter London. They're both cruelty-free! :)
  • Luxury Makeup Item - I could say buy her Chanel or YSL, which to me they're the ultimate luxury makeup brands, but sadly, they both test on animals. I would suggest going for cruelty-free options like Charllote Tillburry and Chantecaille (specially for skincare).
  • Makeup Brush Set - If she's a true makeup junky, she can't have enough makeup brushes! So get her a cool set like this one by Sigma or if you have the budget, the Artis Ten Brush Set

For the Gym Mom

This mom is most likely always on the go. So make her life easier and practical with these fitness basics:

For the Fancy Mom

If you have the budget, this is your time to splurge on your mom! If she's a stylish person, she most likely appreciates luxury brands, so here are some suggestions. I'll leave some more budget friendly options. ;)

  • An everyday handbag - This Chloe satchel will make her go crazy! But if you have a more limited budget, I would suggest going for anything by Rebecca Minkoff
  • Fancy Sandals - These Giuseppe Zanotti sandals are out of this world and will definetely make a statement during summer parties. But if your don't have the budget, I found some more budget friendly dupes here, here and here
  • A luxury makeup item - Just as I said in the beauty junkie section, I could say buy her Chanel or YSL, which to me they're the ultimate luxury makeup brands, but sadly, they both test on animals. I would suggest going for cruelty-free options like Charllote Tillburry and Chantecaille (specially for skincare).
  • A statement evening bag - There's a big chance she loves animal print! So get her this super stylish and Instagram friendly evening pouch. If she's not into animal print, I found more minimal and affordable options here, here and here
  • Designer sunglasses - Because duh! Dior is always a good idea. But if you have a lower budget, you can never go wrong with some mirrored Ray Ban Aviators, Quay Australias or Le Specs

For the HGTV Lover

The odds this mom likes to be surrounded by pretty things around her house are pretty big! So here are some beautiful things you could get her:

  • Anything Jonathan Adler - Specially his metallic zebra dish! Get it in gold here.
  • A cool decorative pillow - Make any bed or sofa change seasons with just one item. If she has a bohemian decor look, go for this floral one or tassel one. If she has a neutral look go for this one and if she has a sense of humor, go for this one
  • Luxury Home Fragance - You can never go wrong with anything by Diptyque or Jo Malone.
  • Fancy Coasters - Again, go with Jonathan Adler. I found some cool options here, here and here

For the Boss Mom

This could be the hardest mom to buy for! She most likely has everything she wants, because she can get it herself (yas kween!). So I would suggest getting her pretty things for her desk that she most likely wouldn't get herself.

  • Stationary Set - Every boss knows the importance of hand written letters, so get her a cool stationary set she can use whenever she needs to write a thank you note! This one by Kate Spade is gorgeous, which by the way, I've seen them in Marshalls and TJ Maxx.
  • A high quality notebook - If she loves writing notes, she will most definitely enjoy anything by Moleskine.
  • Cool pens - The definition of cool pens is Kate Spade gold pens! Am I right?!
  • Coffee mug - Because there's a huge chance she's addicted to caffeine, get her a fun mug to sip through her hectic days. Some cool suggestions here, here and here
  • A relaxing luxury candle for her desk - Again, anything by Diptyque or Jo Malone will give her desk a luxury vibe she will surely enjoy!

Hope this helped! Let me know what you end up getting her. :)

Best,

Spring Break Essentials

spring break essentials

Swimsuit (it's reversable!) | Clutch | Aviators | Hat | Book | Tinted Moisturizer

Ahh Spring Break! The first taste of summer and freedom if you're in school or a clear reminder you need a two week vacation ASAP if you're a full time employee. Here in Puerto Rico we celebrate holy Thursday and Good Friday, which means we have a 4 day weekend. So I decided this could be a great time to enjoy some much needed self care and enjoy yourself under the sun with these Spring Break Essentials:

A One Piece Swimsuit

I've been going crazy looking for the perfect one piece swimsuit until I finally found the right one (similar to this one) at Old San Juan's Marshalls. I just love how one piece swimsuits make you feel sexy but sophisticated. Plus they keep your boobs right in place!

Here are some fun suggestions:

The Right Skincare and Makeup

I know what you're thinking. Why would you wear makeup when your out in the water or sweating? Because SPF Tinted Moisturizers exists my dear! Plus, you better take care of those lips while enjoying the sun or you won't be kissing anybody soon.

Make sure you bring some strong sunscreen like this one by Coola, a good tinted moisturizer like this one by Nars I've been enjoying so far and some moisturizer (I enjoy facial oils like this one).

Click away, thank me later!

An Embroidery Floppy Hat

If you are not familiar with this huge fad on Instagram, you are probably not following enough fashion bloggers. All I know is once I saw that super expensive "Do Not Disturb" hat I knew I wanted it ASAP. How cool will you look poolside with a mojito in your hand?!

Here are some budget options:

Beach Bags

If you're like me, you hate carrying purses to the beach or pool side! But where else will you carry all your sunscreen and lip balm?! With tropical clutches like this one of course!

Here are some more budget friendly options:

Black Sunglasses

I've been obsessed with these very Kardashian-esk black on black Aviator Ray-Bans lately because they make any outfit look instantly bad ass. I love Ray-Ban as a brand because they are such great quality compared to other luxury sunglasses, but if you're looking for a more budget friendly, these Quay x Desi Perkins could be a great option. I must say I am kind of tempted.

Here are some options for you:

Reading Material

Don't forget to bring your favorite magazine and a good beach book. I would suggest going for fiction instead of business or self help books just to keep our mission of being relaxed. But if that's your jam, OK!

Here are some of my suggestions:

My New Love for Comfortable Clothes

ambinity wish list

Denim Jacket | Tote Bag | Striped Shirt | Scarf | Crop Top | Loafers | Long Sleeved Shirt | Crossbody Bag | Cami

I am not a high heels girl. I've tried, believe me, but I get in such a bad mood whenever I wear them, that I only use them on really special occasions. I have to admit that this was by the request of my poor boyfriend, who loves when I wear high heels, but hates hearing me whine about how uncomfortable they are. Can you blame him? I've tried compensating with wedges and platforms but now I'm all about these cat loafers and I'm not even a cat person. I am very complicated.

You can probably guess by now why I'm so hooked with all this athleisure and loungewear trend. All I want these days is to put on a slouchy pair of pants, a cami and my Adidas Superstars. I am also taking advantage of this super rare 70 degree weather in Puerto Rico and wearing a lot more cozy sweaters than usual. I am even seriously thinking about purchasing this beautiful scarf from Madewell. It is even on sale! She's calling me I'm telling you. Grab it here if you're interested as well.

madewell constellation scarf

Basically I wanted to put together a list of all the things that I've been using lately everyday and what is currently in my closet wish list, which you can find in the picture above and in the links bellow this post.

It's kind of a mix of lounge wear, atheleisure and capsule wardrobes in an attempt to make my life more simple:

My new found love for Lululemon

I swore I would never be that person. I would never spend more than $30 on workout clothes. Yet here I am, with a new found love for the All The Right Places legging, which I'll let you find out the price tag because I am too ashamed to even post it.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to try them out. I even have plans to buy every single color (I already have two). I keep telling myself these are an investment on my capsule wardrobe so I've been saving up my money to have a pretty healthy collection of Lulu's. Because it's gym motivation, right?

Grab the pants here if you want to join the hype. It's real.

Looking for the perfect everyday bag! (Per usual)

You guys know how much I love dreaming about splurging on designer bags. Ever since I got my pre-loved Speedy Damier I can't wait to purchase my second Louis. But, I do have to save my money for a really big upcoming trip so I have to calm myself.

Nevertheless... I've been dreaming about the Stella McCartney's Falabella Tote. She's so beautiful and I bet it fits my everyday stuff. I'm looking for a nice dupe (not the same as fake, btw!). So let me know if you find one in the comments bellow please. :)

In a less expensive note, I have also been crushing on this beautiful cross body by Rebecca Minkoff. I have actually been crushing on this bag for more than a year now, so I think my upcoming trip could be a great excuse to finally get it, don't you think?

Julie Sariñana from Sincerely Jules' Style

I've been coming back to her blog more than ever now that my style has evolved this past year. I love how she always looks so put together, while looking so relaxed and stylish. She's the best at upgrading jeans and t-shirts which is exactly what I'm looking for. Because I am lucky I work at an advertising agency, but I do have to look put together from time to time. 💁🏻

5 Ways to Elevate Any Outfit With Jewelry

Fashion, Money, ShoppingMaría Elena RodríguezComment

When I was in high school, I didn't have enough money to go out and buy a new outfit every time I had a party or important event. So I developed a trick to help me upgrade or downgrade my outfits depending on the occasion: use the jewelry I had collected over the years to mix up my looks.

Not only is this the best way to style a simple outfit on a hurry, you can literally spend no money while doing so. That's why I decided to create a list of simple tricks to upgrade any outfit with jewelry:

1. Different length necklaces are great for layering.

Similar necklace here and here.

There's no better way to show people you know what your doing than layering your jewelry like a true Instagram queen.

2. When in doubt, wear a statement necklace.

Photo Cred: Pinterest  | Similar necklace here .

Use a statement necklace to upgrade a jeans and t-shirt outfit. You can dress up this staple with a statement necklace, a couple of bangles, some nice pumps and a classy handbag. It's that easy!

3. Wear your hair up with statement earrings

Get these earrings here | Photo Via: Kendra Scott

If you have a busier blouse on, it's better to go for some fancy earrings. You can find these beautiful ones at Rocksbox.

4. Add some arm candy to your watch

Photo Cred: Wendy's Lookbook  | Watch | Similar bracelets here , here and here .

Photo Cred: Wendy's Lookbook | Watch | Similar bracelets here, here and here

This one ALWAYS makes you look put together and like you care about your appearance even on days when you're pms'ing and your dog wouldn't stop barking during a long night of tossing and turning. #Experienced

5. Don't buy your jewelry, rent them!

Yes, this DOES exist! When Rocksbox contacted me to be one of their influencers I immediately said yes! Rocksbox is a jewelry membership service that exists to make your life easier and more stylish. For only $19/month, you can treat yourself by renting 3 pieces of jewelry at a time with free shipping both ways!

How perfect is that for the holidays?! Wear that statement necklace for the holiday party and send it back in exchange for the dainty one you want to wear daily. It's that simple. And if you love a jewelry piece you can buy it for a discount price AND you will receive a $10 credit in your Rocksbox account.

Guys, I receive about 10 monthly emails from brands who want to collaborate and I normally say no, so when I recommend a brand I mean it!

Here's a promo code for a free month with Rocksbox: AMBINITYXOXO

That's it guys! Hope you enjoyed my newest post. Leave me a comment bellow letting me know your favorite jewelry pieces right now.

Style Crush | Bucket Bags

While on the search for the perfect and timeless designer bag collection (read more on this here), I've been looking for trendier pieces that I can save my money on. Right now I am all about the bucket bag, so I have been searching around the internet for the perfect one. I even contemplated on Louis Vuitton's Noe, but I controlled myself. *Phew*

Bucket bags are definitely on trend for fall 2016. If you follow fashion and lifestyle blogs or scroll over your Instagram feed, you will notice that all the it girls are sporting one. And of course, you know me, I can't be left behind, because #FOMO. So here are three bucket handbags I found online, for three different budgets:

Luxury Basics | Creating my Dream Closet One Milestone at a Time

Fashion, Lifestyle, MoneyMaría Elena Rodríguez2 Comments
Pic Credit:  Goop.com

Pic Credit: Goop.com

My family has never been rich. I come from a middle/ sometimes middle-high class family who works really hard for all they have. Nevertheless, since my grandma from my mother's side has always loved spoiling me, I had a little experience with luxury as a teenager. I am completely sure I inherited my love for everything beauty and fashion from her

As a good 2000's teenager, I was obsessed with Coach, Tous and when I had a really special occasion, like my Quinceañero, I would get some silver jewelry from Tiffany & Co. I was pretty happy with my fancy jewelry, because it made me feel part of the "cool kids". But I don't think I ever looked at them as investment pieces. It never crossed my mind that I could take really good care of some key pieces and maybe one day hand them down to my kids. Today, I only have the classic Please Return to Tiffany bracelet with the matching necklace and a thing or two from Tous that I hardly ever wear.

But everything changed once I started working full time and noticing that sometimes, it's better to have some key items in your wardrobe, rather than having a bunch of $15 jewelry pieces that go dark in a matter of months and a bunch of Forever 21 purses that are practically disposable.  In the long run, you are wasting money.

Now I am more focused on finding really good pieces of clothing that can stand the test of time with versatility and sophistication. I started creating my capsule wardrobe last year, when I made my first Louis Vuitton purchase with a pre-loved Speedy 30 in Damier. More on it here and here. This year, as you will see in the picture bellow I have several things in my wish list that I will by NO means will be purchasing all at once. #IWish. I still need to save some money! But I have started to invest in this pieces with each milestone I reach in my professional life. So here you go, hopefully this will help you make your own decisions as well:

michele deco watch, louis vuitton speedy, gucci disco bag, david yurman cuff

I first spotted this watch in one of my favorite bloggers, Kathleen from Carrie Bradshaw Lied. I have never been a huge fan of watches and I was pretty comfortable wearing my Michael Kors and Marc Jacob watches every now and then. But since some pretty great things have been finally happening in my life, due to my good time keeping skills, I can honestly say I am ready for a good swiss watch. See what I did there? #girlboss.

Plus, I love that even though this is definitely not a cheap watch, it is not crazy expensive like Rolex and Cartier. And you still get the swiss mechanism!

2. Louis Vuitton Neverfull (I still don't know which size!)

Guys, I am so tired of buying drop-it-all-in tote bags and them failing on me before the one year mark. Because, yes, I am a handbag destroyer (just ask my boyfriend) and I know that this would be the perfect bag for me. It also helps that my dear friend Omar has a serious campaign behind me buying it.

3. Gucci Disco Bag

Again, I have had so many cross body bags, but none of them have stayed with me! The Forever 21 one that I used for my recent trip to Chicago is in her last days and I need to look for a new one soon.

I spotted this dainty cross body bag on several blog posts by Emily Schuman from Cupcakes and Cashmere and I knew I needed it. It is so versatile and just the perfect size for when you are on the go.

4. David Yurman Cuffs

I have to admit that I am a spoiled little brat and already announced to my family that all I wanted for christmas was a David Yurman Cuff. Why? Because I want to start a collection of bracelets that just as my Please Return to Tiffany, can be dressed up or down. Plus, Kathleen from CBL had a lot to do with this, yet again. lol  #armcandyheaven #iwillinstagramthehelloutofmyarm

Final Thoughts:

I definitely need to cut down on my Sephora hauls and start bringing my lunch to work, don't you think? But you know what? I really think we all deserve little treats once in a while, and as I stated before, these are investment pieces that you will be wearing for a long time if you take good care of them.

Now I want to know about you! what has been your biggest investment piece so far? What are your must have luxury basics?

Until next time,
María Elena

What's In My Bag | February 2016

Fashion, Lifestyle, BeautyMaría Elena RodríguezComment
louis vuitton speedy 30 whats in my bag

This what's inside my bag will undoubtedly be a little update on how the KonMari Method is definitely life changing (hence, the title of the book). Honestly, when I was reading The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and read that part in which the author says that she actually takes all of the stuff in her handbag out and puts them in a box all lined up in vertical position, my initial thought was: Ain't nobody got time for that! So the fact that I've been doing this (and loving it) for the past month and a half is very surprising to me.

First of all, I threw all the stuff that I didn't need off my bag. And trust me, there was a LOT of junk in there. My mother swears that is the main reason I have scoliosis.  So after that, I categorized everything I actually needed in my life in different little bags that fit perfectly inside my Speedy 30. So here's an overview of how it's organized:

  • The "Wallet" - I decided to go for a simple pouch. One thing the KonMari Method taught me is to simplify/ minimize my belongings. I have found that having a traditional wallet may not be the best for me because I tend to overstuff them. Not with money, sadly. So I was thinking about purchasing a cute credit card holder like this one maybe, since I most definitely never carry cash with me (which I know it's a huge mistake). So when my mother in law gave me this Coach pouch for Christmas I thought this was perfect for me. I can take it alone if I'm going to the grocery store and just wear it on my wrist which is very convenient and stylish, don't you think?
  • The Eyeglasses & The Sunglasses - I like to switch these around during the day depending if there is sunlight or not... duh! I recently purchased these from EyeBuyDirect.com and I'm loving them! Not exactly the fastest shipping compared to other online eyewear stores I've heard about, but the quality is amazing. I am specially loving the sunglasses, which I believe are a perfect dupe for a pair of Prada sunglasses that I've been eyeing for a while. Compared to what I would've paid for those Prada ones, I invested less than $150 on a pair of sunglasses and eyeglasses with my prescription.

  • The Emergencies Bag - This is the bag with a mini size deodorant, hand cream, makeup removing wipes, hand sanitizer and Advil (the only over-the-counter pain reliever that actually works on my menstrual cramps). Need I say more?

  • The Tech Cables Bag - I got this little gray bag with some earbuds I bought from a recent JetBlue flight. Since I paid $5 and the bag it's actually kind of cute and has an interesting shape, I decided to use it as a charging cables pouch. I carry this with me everywhere since it contains a life saver portable charger, an iPhone cable, the actual earbuds I purchased from JetBlue and my Fitbit charger.

  • The Makeup Essentials Bag - Meaning face powder, a basic eye shadow, a mid-day life saver concealer, Glossier's the Balm Dotcom and a versatile lip color.

  • The Bag for Those Days of the Month - This is the bag with the "Oh what fun!" quote on it. You see what I did there? ;) I only take this bag with me when mother nature calls, so I don't carry all that weight with me all the time. It contains pads, tampons, panty liners, Summer's Eve wipes... you know the drill.

  • The Bag Holder - Because lets face it, who would put a precious Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 in Damier Ebene in the floor?! Certainly not me, who saved up for her dream bag for quite a few years. I finally got this bag pre-loved (for a really good price) and I couldn't be more in love with her. This is my trophy bag and every time I wear it I know I earned it with really hard work, which is exactly why I always wanted to buy it. So this baby is not going to be touching the floor (or anybody else) any time soon.

  • The Keys - I know everybody takes their keys with them, but here's a little fun fact: If I don't have a cute keychain (like the little gold one I got from Boveda in Old San Juan a few years ago), I like to use a hand sanitizer keychain with my car keys. That way all my germaphobes needs are satisfied al day, errday

That's it! That's what I carry with me almost every day. I think it pretty much covers my everyday essentials. Now I want to hear about you. What do you carry in your purse? :)

XO,

Elena
