Mother's Day Gift Guide | 2015

I love spoiling my mom and I have a feeling you do too. As well as many of you, my mom is the most important person in my life and even if I like giving her really nice gifts, I find that the simplest and well thought gifts are the best. This is why I didn't just want to list a couple of things for you to buy for your mom, but instead I went to the most thoughtful person I know: my trusty friend/ co-worker, Valerie. I like calling her the "thoughtful queen" because she is the kind of person that remembers every occasion (big or small) and gives you a little something just to bring a smile to your face. She definitely takes the "it's the thought that counts" saying to a whole new level. I wish I was more like her. Don't you?

Earlier this week she told me about this awesome idea of making care packages as gifts. She explained to me that she buys a cute little bag and gathers 3-5 things that she knows the person receiving the gift will actually use. How thoughtful and creative is that?! So, you guessed it! This Mother's Day gift guide is inspired by Valerie and her thoughtful gifts.

But before we get any further, here's a simple 3 step system you can use:

  1. One Bag
  2. One splurge item
  3. Two to three cute thoughtful items

Ok, now we're ready. Here are 5 examples that hopefully will inspire you to create the perfect gift set for the moms of your life:

As you can see, I left it pretty open so you can mix and match your mom's style. If you end up doing any of these gift bags please send me your pictures! I would love to see them. :)

Chanel Makeup Review

Oops... I did it again. I spent too much money on makeup. #SorryNotSorry

If you read one of my last wish lists, you'll know that I was planning on purchasing these two Chanel products for a while. I don't think I was planning on buying both at the same time, BUT the time when I had just joined the rewards debit program from Nordstrom in which I had to spend $100 or more for a $20 cash back. Hence, Chanel counter... BINGO! (My wallet is still mad at me)

Here's my mini haul/ review:

1. Chanel Vitaloumier Aqua - I went to the Chanel counter just to buy Soleil Tan De Chanel but that obviously didn't happen. Leslie, the awesome lady at Nordstrom San Juan's counter told me to give this lightweight base a try and I couldn't help to be impressed by the flawless and natural finish. I've been using this instead of my beloved Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer and I can't believe I like it even more. I thought it wouldn't work on Puerto Rico's weather (which has been in the high 80's lately), but it's true what they say. It does look like your skin, but better. I've been using it with Maybelline's Fit Me Matte + Poreless Powder and it's impressive that even though this foundation has a very luminous finish, it has great staying power.

2. Soleil Tan de Chanel - As usual, I am going to be really honest here. It was REALLY hard for me to mess up this beautiful design with a stippling brush. I mean, look at it! And the packaging deserves a post on its own. How can one resist?? But lets cut to the chase: This is the best way to to contour your face, specially if you don't like that harsh looking contouring that makes you look like you are someone else. It has a little bit of shimmer but you can't see it once its on your face. It just makes you look glowy. Definetely worth the $48 price tag (ouch!).

Final verdict: These are both worth the splurge! Do you wear Chanel makeup? Let me know what other products to try! I'll start saving up... I think I'm hooked. :)
