My New Love for Comfortable Clothes

Denim Jacket | Tote Bag | Striped Shirt | Scarf | Crop Top | Loafers | Long Sleeved Shirt | Crossbody Bag | Cami

I am not a high heels girl. I've tried, believe me, but I get in such a bad mood whenever I wear them, that I only use them on really special occasions. I have to admit that this was by the request of my poor boyfriend, who loves when I wear high heels, but hates hearing me whine about how uncomfortable they are. Can you blame him? I've tried compensating with wedges and platforms but now I'm all about these cat loafers and I'm not even a cat person. I am very complicated.

You can probably guess by now why I'm so hooked with all this athleisure and loungewear trend. All I want these days is to put on a slouchy pair of pants, a cami and my Adidas Superstars. I am also taking advantage of this super rare 70 degree weather in Puerto Rico and wearing a lot more cozy sweaters than usual. I am even seriously thinking about purchasing this beautiful scarf from Madewell. It is even on sale! She's calling me I'm telling you. Grab it here if you're interested as well.

Basically I wanted to put together a list of all the things that I've been using lately everyday and what is currently in my closet wish list, which you can find in the picture above and in the links bellow this post.

It's kind of a mix of lounge wear, atheleisure and capsule wardrobes in an attempt to make my life more simple:

My new found love for Lululemon

I swore I would never be that person. I would never spend more than $30 on workout clothes. Yet here I am, with a new found love for the All The Right Places legging, which I'll let you find out the price tag because I am too ashamed to even post it.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to try them out. I even have plans to buy every single color (I already have two). I keep telling myself these are an investment on my capsule wardrobe so I've been saving up my money to have a pretty healthy collection of Lulu's. Because it's gym motivation, right?

Grab the pants here if you want to join the hype. It's real.

Looking for the perfect everyday bag! (Per usual)

You guys know how much I love dreaming about splurging on designer bags. Ever since I got my pre-loved Speedy Damier I can't wait to purchase my second Louis. But, I do have to save my money for a really big upcoming trip so I have to calm myself.

Nevertheless... I've been dreaming about the Stella McCartney's Falabella Tote. She's so beautiful and I bet it fits my everyday stuff. I'm looking for a nice dupe (not the same as fake, btw!). So let me know if you find one in the comments bellow please. :)

In a less expensive note, I have also been crushing on this beautiful cross body by Rebecca Minkoff. I have actually been crushing on this bag for more than a year now, so I think my upcoming trip could be a great excuse to finally get it, don't you think?

Julie Sariñana from Sincerely Jules' Style

I've been coming back to her blog more than ever now that my style has evolved this past year. I love how she always looks so put together, while looking so relaxed and stylish. She's the best at upgrading jeans and t-shirts which is exactly what I'm looking for. Because I am lucky I work at an advertising agency, but I do have to look put together from time to time. 💁🏻

Local Shopping in Old San Juan

Shopping, Travel, LifestyleMaría Elena RodríguezComment

Honestly, I visited Old San Juan this past Saturday with the intention of just eating brunch at Caficultura, one of the best places to drink coffee in the city. But then, as it always happens, I felt inspired to walk through the pavers of this old colonial city and visit all the local shops I love so much that I can only find in Old San Juan.

Needless to say, if you've ever felt a lack of inspiration in your life, there's no better way to cure it than visiting Old San Juan. This city has je ne sais quoi that can only be described as magic. It is not just the beautiful architecture and spectacular views of the San Juan Bay... it's more about the people and their energy.

Each local shop you visit in Old San Juan makes you feel like you are visiting an old friend and you feel opened to strike conversations with them. And I don't know about you, but this doesn't happen to me at any shopping mall.

Don't get me wrong, we all know local shopping, specially in this Island where our sales tax is up to 11.5% is not easy, but I believe local shopping is the best way to have a simpler lifestyle. Since it is, in some cases, slightly more expensive but much higher quality, you'll be buying less of what you don't need and more of what you do need. See? It is not that hard.

But let's get to the point. :) Here's the end result of my most recent local shopping experience:

Collective Request

I've been following this online store almost since they first opened. Their Instagram account is to die for and I always wanted to buy something from their store. So when I saw their new store in Calle Luna #201 it was a pleasant surprise to see super affordable quality clothing. And don't even get me started on their dainty gold jewelry! They are definitely on my wish list.

I ended up buying this oversized Canadian Tuxedo in just $16!

LUCA

If you love minimal design you will fall in love with this store. This tiny store has a modern and chic vibe that brings joy to your life. If you're like me, you will be wandering around for a while just discovering from the simplest gold brass jewelry to the most beautiful article of clothing.

Since I was looking for some nice hoop earrings, I decided to go for these chic and unique ones, to give a little twist to my standard look. Then I saw this beautiful pen and it just spoke to my soul.

Pure Soul

These are two stores in Old San Juan that are the epitome of lifestyle for me. One of them focuses on boho chic clothing and accessories and the other one on decoration and living. Every time I visit one of these stores I end up with one of two things: with a slimmer wallet or super inspired!

Between all of the beautiful things I saw, I found this adult coloring book and journal (as if I don't have enough of them already). Just like their names, these items feel like they are for the soul. I have to admit the size of this coloring book was key to my purchase because I can just throw it in my handbag and pretend I have the free time in my day to use it! Ha! Then I saw this notebook that says "always be inspired" and I just knew I needed it to write down every blog idea that comes to my mind.

As you may have seen from this post, in Old San Juan every store has a story. Just do a quick Google search and you'll start seeing its magic. ;)

What are your favorite local shops?

XO,

Elena
