4 Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

Career, LifestyleMaría Elena Rodríguez2 Comments

Since today is International Women's Day, and I love to be a walking cliché sometimes, I thought what better way to celebrate it than by listing the best Podcasts for the creative woman (and man).

Listening to podcasts is the way I enjoy my morning commute to work. It makes me feel like I'm starting the day on a positive note and that I'm actually doing something productive: feeding my brain. I've learned that even though listening to morning shows and AM radio is entertaining and definitely informative, listening to podcasts makes me feel more relax and creative before starting my work day.

So I had this post on my to-do list for a while and I thought, why not share it with you guys today? After all, career and vanity is what Ambinity is all about. ;) Enjoy:

After The Jump - If you are an interior design fan like I am, you probably know about Design Sponge. It's basically, in my opinion, the #1 blog on creatives and interior decoration enthusiasts. So when I found out their author Grace Bonney started a podcast, I knew I had to listen to it.

In this podcast, Bonney interviews entrepreneurs, bloggers and designers on how they started their journey towards a successful career that they love and enjoy. Sounds basic, but trust me, it isn't. Maybe it's because she's also a writer and a creative person, but she has a way of getting the deepest stories from the people she interviews. On one of my favorite episodes, she interviews Genevieve Gorder, better known for her appearance on Trading Spaces. Remember that show?

Needless to say, this is my favorite podcast and there is no way you are not going to be inspired to follow your wildest dreams after listening to just one episode.

I tweeted her to ask her when will her next season launch, but she told me they are taking a break to focus on their new book. Sad news for me, but curious about that book, though!

Raise Your Hand Say Yes - This is the podcast I found when I finished all episodes of After the Jump. I was so hungry for more creative advice from real experiences that I searched the hell out of iTunes Podcast until I found this one. I have to admit that 50% of my decision to download this podcast was made because of the fabulous gold dinosaur and sequins on their cover.

The host, Tiffany Han, is the coolest life coach ever. She took the decision to expand her career coaching to a podcast and teach us some lessons in taking risks and making awesome things happen by saying yes to whatever your gut tells you. The best way I can describe her interviews is that it feels like you're listening to a conversation between two really awesome people. She also does solo episodes where she gives you advise like a best friend who makes you laugh with quirky comments along a serious conversation. She makes my morning commutes a breeze. Must check her out! Also, she's trying to get Mindy Kalyng on the show, so try tweeting, #mindysayyes to see if she can finally get her on the show!

Soul Feed - I found this podcast through Estee Lalonde, one of my favorite Youtubers ever! She did an interview with them and it's super funny, yet informative. Estee talks about how she was an awkward child, how she started Youtube and how she reinvents herself and grows without letting her fans down.

I haven't listened to most of their episodes, but I am enjoying them a lot. These two dudes are incredibly talented and you should give them a try.

Masacote - I couldn't end a blog post about Podcasts without mentioning Chente's Masacote. If you live in Puerto Rico and/or speak Spanish and are just a bit curious about the local artists and talent on this Island, this podcast is for you. Chente may be a comedian and a goofball on social media but these interviews will give you hope in the artistic talent of Puerto Rico.

My personal favorite episodes are Pirulo's, Alexandra Lúgaro's and Vargas Vidot's.

As you can see, I can't get enough podcasts, so please let me know which are your favorites so I can listen to them! :)

Until next time,
